Case: bedreiging van de olijvenoogst | KWH Holland

De Jong, Cannes – France

The olive fruit fly (Bactrocera oleae) is threatening the olive harvest in France. Black flies lay their eggs inside the fruit after which the larvae feed from the fruit from the inside. The only effective remedy is to apply a biological clay preparation (White Clay). The problem here is that the application of this preparation in high trees consumes twenty litres of water and a half hour per tree. And after every rainfall, the crop protection agent has to be reapplied. The olive orchard of

De Jong in Cannes is located on a steep slope and is not easily accessible.

The solution: the KWH Canon Sprayer (Phantom)
After testing for a day, KWH Holland came up with the following solution: a KWH Canon Sprayer (Phantom) mounted on a Cararo Tractor. Because the liquid clay is very thick we used the patented anti-clogging KWH nozzles.

The result:
– A maximum one-minute spraying time and two litres of water per tree.
– Perfect coverage of the leaf.
– Treatment time reduced from one week to a single day.
